Frame & filling
Inside Charlotte, just as in all our headboards, is a solid timber frame with proper joinery, which you’ll be reminded of each time you sit up in bed and lean back into it. It’s well-padded too though, so your head will always be resting on something soft.
Size and structure
The height of the Charlotte headboard is somewhere in the middle – high enough for leaning against, but not dramatically tall. We design our headboards to sit on the top of the bed frame so that it becomes one fluid piece and can sit flush to the wall – should you want it to.
The rows of buttons and diamond-shaped pleating are achieved by meticulously folding the fabric by hand before stitching it in place. It’s a technique that takes time, patience and much practice.
Pairing with a bed base
Charlotte comes with solid oak struts that can be bolted to the bedframe to attach it securely. It also has a French cleat fixing should you prefer to hang it from your wall with the bed pushed up against it. Our Chichester and Francis bases make the perfect partner to Charlotte, or, pair it with your existing divan.
We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.
Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. So that’s no heavy lifting on your part. They’ll take it to your desired spot, put it together for you and take away the packaging for recycling.
They can also fit your headboard to your bed if you’d like, just not to your wall (that involves a few screws, and we wouldn’t want to accidentally damage your home).
We believe that returns should be easy, which is why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. And, you’ll also have 28 days to do so – just in case you need time to mull things over.
When it comes to designs upholstered in a made-to-order fabric or painted in a bespoke colour, there’s also a 20% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.
If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.
And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Taking care of Charlotte
Looking after Neptune designs is easy – they won’t ask you for a lot. But, whether you’d like advice on everyday cleaning or seasonal and yearly care, you’ll find all our tips, suggestions and recommendations in our care guides.
The textiles in our fabric library range from pure linen to rich velvet and wool, and each one has its own character. Tone and texture can vary slightly from thread to thread, and expect to see the occasional slub in our linens and pile movement in our velvets. We’ve written an article about the personality behind each of our fabrics so that you can figure out which one best suits your home.
If you’re ordering Charlotte in one of our patterned textiles, we’ll pare back the buttons and pleating so it doesn’t appear too busy. And if you’ve selected one of our checked wools, we’ll aim to line up each button with a point where two lines meet.
Sometimes colour between batches can vary ever-so-slightly. To be on the safe side, we’d advise buying pieces that are being used in the same room in one go.
