Suffolk 5ft Sideboard

A closer look at Suffolk

Quiet elegance and pared-back forms carry through the entire Suffolk collection, including this sideboard. It’s a subtly Shaker-inspired piece – simple enough to suit contemporary spaces and country cottages alike. It can also sit in any room of the house – as a place for large serving pieces and table linen in a kitchen or dining room, or to display treasures and store clutter elsewhere.

Materials: oak

The top is made from oak, because it’ll look more than good in your home. You can expect the odd knot here and the odd change in wood grain there – which means no two pieces will ever look quite the same – but overall, it’s a well-balanced timber.

Materials: tulipwood

But when it comes to painted timber, we use tulipwood – a strong and resilient hardwood. Its fine, almost knot-free grain makes it perfectly suited to a painted finish, so you get the best of both worlds – strength and smoothness.

Finish: IsoGuard®

The oak is protected with IsoGuard®, our timber treatment oil. Think of it as a defence barrier, but one that you’d never know was there. IsoGuard® comes in a few finishes; this one’s Seasoned Oak and it gives Suffolk a subtle, silvered colour – like naturally weathered timber.

Finish: paint

Not every piece of furniture and every colour of paint needs the same process – a ‘one finish suits all’ approach won’t ever give you the best result possible. That’s why we vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade needs.

Design detail

Suffolk might not have lots of obvious design details, but it’s got plenty of smaller ones that are both attractive and practical. Like the soft-closing drawer that sits on runners hidden underneath. And doors that shut on chrome magnetic catches. We’ve even considered the shelf supports: the timber zig-zag design can take a lot of weight and makes it easy for you to rearrange.

Where to use a sideboard

A dining room is the most obvious place to have a sideboard, where you can use it to hold glassware, napkins and serving platters that you either don’t have space for in the kitchen or want close to the table. But, one can also go anywhere you need storage that feels lighter than full-height cabinetry and dressers.

Taking care of Suffolk

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your sideboard, so that it stays looking as beautiful as the day you first brought it home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service doesn't include fitted furniture.

For homes and customers outside of the UK and Ireland, our international team are here to help arrange shipping and delivery. Call us on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or e-mail  and together we’ll sort out the best method for you.

No-quibble returns

Returns should be easy, that’s why we have a ‘no quibble’ mindset.

If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then. But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out.

And when it comes to designs upholstered in a made-to-order fabric or painted in a bespoke colour, there’s also a 30% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.

If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.

And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at
