A closer look at Hector

All our wool fabrics are in subtle shades and patterns that you can mix and match. Hector is very similar to Ewan, but with slightly bigger, bolder checks for more impact. The fine dashes that make up each stripe are more visible, and the colour contrasts are just a little stronger.

The textile

100% wool. Hector is a thick, closely woven fabric with a lovely matte texture, almost like felted wool. It adds warmth your home and is ideal for layering, as a neutral backdrop for other textiles.

More about wool

Wool is a soft, strong and hypoallergenic material. Insulating yet breathable, it adjusts to the temperature of a room, so it feels warm in winter and cool in summer. It’s also naturally flame retardant and resists sagging, qualities that make it ideal for upholstery.

How it feels

Like all our wools, Hector is soft and comforting - never scratchy. The fine strands coming through the fabric give it a brushed, almost fluffy finish.

The colour

Clay is a warm, earthy brown with cream checks. It’s a natural foil for our unbleached linens, such as Emma, but also looks lovely with our Isla velvets in Ermine and Otter.

Where we see it

Hector’s natural home is on sofas, armchairs and footstools, where it looks classic and is easy to keep clean. It also makes cosy cushions or curtains, with the check giving a slightly more tailored feel than our plain wools.

Just so you know

There can be some colour variation between different batches of our fabric – we try to make them as small as possible, but it’s something to be expected with natural fibres. If you’re using this fabric more than once in the same room, we recommend ordering as many metres as you need in one go - that way, we can make sure it’s all from the same batch.
