A closer look at Avery

If your Christmas decorations lean towards natural and understated, our Avery baubles are a way to bring in a little touch of festive glimmer. Made from clear glass, they have a unique, twisted shape that’ll just catch the light.

In the making

First, the maker presses a ball of molten glass, which sits on the end of the long blowing pipe, into a spherical mould in the ground. They then blow down the stick to create Avery’s hollow centre, before pulling the glass out of the mould, twisting at the same time. They finish it off by pulling the twist up and curling it round to create the hanging loop.

The ribbon

Like all our tree decorations this year, Aurora comes with a velvet ribbon to hang it from. It’s made using the same cotton Isla velvet that we use on our upholstery and cushions, in the grey-brown Otter colour that complements the silvery tones of the bauble.
