Chichester Undermount Curved Washstand

Change colour

A closer look at Chichester

This Chichester washstand is an incredibly classic piece, combining marble and a timeless, painted finish with curved cabinetry and all the refined joinery details you’ll find in our kitchens. And, as it offers the essential storage space that a pedestal basin can’t, it’s practical too.

Materials: timber

When it comes to painted timber, we use tulipwood, a strong and resilient hardwood. Left bare, it’s not the prettiest to look at, but its fine, almost knot-free grain creates a smooth finish for paint, so its dull appearance is in fact a virtue.

Finish: paint

We take great care over our painted finishes and give every design what it needs to be robust. We vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade requires. We also use our low-sheen, water-based eggshell, which is perfectly suited to bathrooms.

Materials: marble

Carrara marble is a naturally occurring metamorphic rock. It’s grey-white in colour, and has darker veining that makes each piece unique. It’s a beautiful material, it just requires more hands-on care than other stones. Don’t worry, this isn’t very time-consuming and we’ve included our guide to doing so.

Finish: marble

The marble has a sleek, light-reflective polished finish – a classic look that’s a contrasting texture to the almost-matte paint. We’ve sealed it to help protect against stains, and we recommend that this is reapplied using our stone care kit (available in-store) each year.

The basin

All our bathroom basins are ceramic – it’s the material we’ve found to be the best combination of durability and looks. On this style, which sits below the work surface, the overflow hole is hidden out of first sight on the side closest to you.

What about taps?

We’ve pre-drilled the holes for the taps into the marble top – you needn’t worry about that. But we haven’t included the taps themselves so you can pick the style. The holes will fit most three-hole designs, including our Bamburgh.

Storage: the drawers

The drawers on either side of the basin pull forwards to reveal slim spaces for everyday essentials. The top ‘drawer’ in the middle is a false one, but below this is a petite drawer that fits around the waste pipe, and a doubly-deep one (disguised as two) for standing bottles in. All are fitted on soft-close runners.

Storage: the cupboards

On the back of each cupboard door is a caddy that’s useful for storing often-used items within easy reach, for keeping cleaning products separate, or for taller bottles that won’t fit on the shelf.

Curvaceous cabinetry

The curves in this washstand make it ideal for smaller rooms: though you’ll still need space either side to open the cabinets, it’s a visually less dominating piece. They’re also one of things that makes it feel so classic, and will soften the feel of more modern fittings.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
