Chichester Housekeeper's Cupboard

Change colour

A closer look at Chichester

Our housekeeper’s cupboard is a practical and dependable piece. Made from timber using tried-and-tested joinery techniques, it has a significant amount of storage space and a pared-back, classic design that will translate to many spaces in the house.

The finish: paint

Not every piece of furniture and every colour of paint needs the same process – a ‘one finish suits all’ approach won’t ever give you the best result possible. That’s why we vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade requires.

The finish: IsoGuard®

Chichester’s oak top is protected with IsoGuard®, our timber treatment oil that helps to prevent stains and spills from setting in, like water rings from cups without coasters. And it does all of this without masking the natural look and feel of oak like most lacquers and sealers do.

Storage

This cupboard was designed with adaptability in mind, because we know that no two people’s storage needs are the same. So, as well as the three generously deep drawers beneath, there are three adjustable shelves inside and two forward-facing hanging rails – and you can remove and switch all of them.

Design detail

The detailing on the door and drawer fronts, the cornice and the skirting all add just a hint of traditional style. What’s less noticeable at first – but just as important – are aspects like the load-bearing (and attractive) zig-zag shelving supports, the satisfying click of the chrome door catches, and the drawers that pull out fully and close softly.

Just so you know

Natural timber will always want to move. Fact. It’s going to expand and shrink as the temperature and humidity in your home changes, but there are specialist joinery techniques that can help to counteract the movement. And that’s exactly what we do.

If you’d like the colour of your piece to be spot on, there’s really nothing better than ordering a sample paint pot or colour card – on your screen, the colour might be one or two shades off.

Taking care

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your furniture so that it stays looking as beautiful as the day you first brought it home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service doesn't include fitted furniture.

For homes and customers outside of the UK and Ireland, our international team are here to help arrange shipping and delivery. Call us on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or e-mail  and together we’ll sort out the best method for you.

No-quibble returns

Returns should be easy, that’s why we have a ‘no quibble’ mindset.

If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then. But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out.

And when it comes to designs upholstered in a made-to-order fabric or painted in a bespoke colour, there’s also a 30% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.

If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.

And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at
