Chichester Original Wardrobe

Change colour

A closer look at Chichester

This wardrobe is classically English in its style and pared-back enough to be truly timeless. It takes its pleasing proportions from furniture-making traditions, informed by those of an antique cabinet. And it’s just as beautiful on the inside, where it offers versatile storage, as it is when the doors are closed.

Materials

For most of this wardrobe, we’ve used tulipwood – a hardwood that has a fine grain, so it creates a smooth finish when painted. The hanging rail is made from oak: a lovely surprise when you peer inside (that’s also incredibly strong).

Finish

We take great care in achieving our painted finish and treat every design differently, giving it exactly what it needs to make it robust. We vary the number of base and top coats according to how many that particular shade requires. And we use a mixture of spray-painted and hand-painted techniques so the finish is as perfect as can be.

Storage

This wardrobe was designed with adaptability in mind, because no two people’s storage needs are the same. So, the hanging rail and three shelves inside can all be adjusted (we like to place one shelf above the rail for storing less-used items), and there’s a generously sized drawer beneath.

Design detail

The detailing on the door and drawer fronts, the cornice and the skirting all add just a hint of traditional style. What’s less noticeable at first – but just as important – are aspects like the load-bearing (and attractive) zig-zag shelving supports, the satisfying click of the chrome door catches, and the drawer that pulls out fully and closes softly.

Just so you know

The colours in our paint palette shown here are a close representation of their true shades, but to see the real thing, we suggest trying our sample paint pots.

This piece comes with both oak and chrome Chichester knobs, so you can choose whichever suits your room best.

Taking care

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your furniture so that it stays looking as beautiful as the day you first brought it home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
