A closer look at Long Island

The Long Island and linen go together like all the most successful pairings. It’s a fabric that’s made for this chair’s loose and removable covers. Long Island is as pared-back as can be, but full of meticulous details, making the perfect compromise – relaxed elegance

Frame & filling

Underneath Long Island’s cover is a solid timber frame made using proper jointing. To this we’ve added serpentine springs as well as fibre and foam padding, so you’ll always be sat on something soft.

Comfort & proportions

Long Island’s shape is deceptively straight-lined; sit down and you’ll find that the backrest is softer down the centre to mould to your body, and that the seat is surprisingly springy. As one of our higher-backed dining chairs, it’s got shoulder support covered too.

Design detail

The loose covers reach only part way down the legs so you can see the solid oak. Their fit is snug because they’re held seamlessly in place in a pocket between the back and seat. Small notches kick the fabric out at each corner to soften the lines of the chair.

Fabric notes

The textiles you can choose from for Long Island are all either pure linen or linen blends, because that’s the fabric that suits its loose covers best. There are over 30 of these in our library, and each one has its own character. Tone and texture can vary slightly from thread to thread, and expect to see the occasional slub. We’ve written an article about the personality behind each of our fabrics so that you can figure out which one best suits your home.

Sometimes colour between batches can vary ever-so-slightly. To be on the safe side, we’d advise buying pieces that are being used in the same room in one go.

Taking care of Long Island

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your upholstered pieces so that they stay looking as beautiful as the day you first brought them home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
