Montague Lloyd Loom Chair

Change colour

A closer look at Montague

Montague’s made from Lloyd Loom, a traditional craft that’s durable and paintable – so you can customise this piece with one of over 28 shades. This is a dining chair that combines a feeling of heritage and a great deal of texture with a very pared-back shape, which means you can use it in classic or contemporary spaces.

Materials

Lloyd Loom’s been around since the early 20th century, and is made by wrapping paper around a steel wire. It won’t bend out of shape or creak when you sit down, and is completely smooth, so it won’t snag on clothes. Just know that it’s not suitable for using outside though.

Finish

Not every piece of furniture and every colour of paint needs the same process – a ‘one finish suits all’ approach won’t ever give you the best result possible. That’s why we vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade needs.

Comfort & proportions

Montague’s tall enough to support your upper back and shoulders. It’s also contoured across the seat and backrest, and it reclines slightly, all to make it even more comfortable. There’s also a coordinating seat cushion that you can add for a little more softness.

Design detail

Around the edge of Montague’s backrest and at the top of each leg, it’s finished with plaited Lloyd Loom. It’s a traditional detail that’s in-keeping with the material, but one that’s balanced by the chair’s simple silhouette.
