Suffolk Dining Chair

A closer look at Suffolk

Suffolk’s story started with an 18th-century dining chair, spotted in an antiques shop on a family holiday. Its ball-back design inspired that of our own, with an updated shape that offers a more modern sense of comfort and a subtle nod to Shaker-style simplicity.

Finish

IsoGuard® is the treatment oil we developed to make oak easier to live with without masking its texture. It does darken it slightly, so it also includes clever pigments to reverse this. Natural Oak replenishes the original, honey-toned colour; Seasoned Oak leaves a hint of grey.

Comfort & proportions

Most of us prefer to sit slightly reclined – it’s why many people swing back on their seats – so Suffolk was designed with a tilt in its backrest. It also curves around your back and shoulders. The seat dips inwards too, and can be made even more comfy by adding the matching cushion.

Design detail

It’s the little things that make a difference to how polished Suffolk feels. Like the proportional overhang on the seat, the legs that taper into the backrest, and the balanced size of the balls in its back (they sit proud of the cross pieces, but you’re not likely to feel them when you sit down).

This piece is made from natural timber, which will expand (slightly) and shrink (just a little) as it responds to the humidity and temperature in your room. We’ve used joinery techniques that’ll help to counteract this, but small changes in your piece are completely natural and to be expected. Just know that, in the very unlikely event that there’s a significant change to the structure, we’ll be here to help.

Taking care of your furniture

We’ve put together a series of guides on how best to take care of our pieces, so you can keep them looking as good as the day you first brought them home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
