A closer look at Wardley

There’s a sense of heritage in Wardley’s design – a classic Windsor chair made contemporary. It’s a style that’s been around since the 18th-century, that we’ve updated with a cleaner form and lower height. Wardley is also defined by its comfortable curves and the beautiful workmanship in its joints and decorative detail.

Materials

We love oak for its sense of heritage and its characterful grain – full of knots and variations in colour that give each piece its own hand-writing. We also love that, should it get damaged, it can be easily sanded back and re-finished.

Finish

Wardley is protected with IsoGuard®, our timber treatment that makes the oak easier to live with, helping it stand up to spills and scuffs. It does this without masking its natural, matte texture or soft-toned colour.

Comfort & proportions

It may be made from wood, but Wardley doesn’t compromise on comfort. The top rail of the backrest curves to meet the shoulder blades, and there’s a barely detectable (until you sit in it), leg-hugging saddle shape to the seat.

Design detail

Wardley’s expert joinery is noticeable particularly in the seat, where the foxtail joints that attach the legs are visible. Sometimes these are flush, sometimes they sit just proud (although you won’t feel them) – a variation we love.

This piece is made from natural timber, which will expand (slightly) and shrink (just a little) as it responds to the humidity and temperature in your room. We’ve used joinery techniques that’ll help to counteract this, but small changes in your piece are completely natural and to be expected. Just know that, in the very unlikely event that there’s a significant change to the structure, we’ll be here to help.

Taking care of your furniture

We’ve put together a series of guides on how best to take care of our pieces, so you can keep them looking as good as the day you first brought them home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
