A closer look at Wycombe

Wycombe’s an oak and rush, square stool that combines references to historical designs with our signature pared-back and timeless aesthetic. The un-stained oak, light-coloured rush fibre seat and simply tapered legs will all feel completely at home in a contemporary setting, while still giving you that much-sought after character and dependability of an antique piece.

Wycombe’s design story

From ladder-backed and practical Shaker chairs to the rush-seated designs of the Arts & Crafts movement (and Morris & Co.’s famous Sussex chair), our Wycombe seating collection has quite a tale to tell. You can read all about it over on our journal.

Meet the family

As well as this stool, there’s also a bench and fixed and folding dining chairs in our Wycombe collection, making it one of our most versatile designs. It means you can create a coordinating combination of seats around your table that works perfectly for you.

Wycombe elsewhere in your home

There are so many ways you could use this stool throughout your home, not just around your dining table. If you’re short on space in your hallway, it could be a useful little spot to put on shoes instead of a bench. Or, being quite flat-topped, why not use it as a side table that’ll also double up as an extra seat?

The materials: oak

Oak’s sense of tradition together with its distinctive (but not too knotty) grain make it our go-to timber. Naturally durable when it comes to knocks, we’ve further protected the oak from spills with IsoGuard® – our oil-based formula that doesn’t mask the timber’s character. You can find out more about that here.

The materials: rush

Natural rush comes from freshwater bulrushes and has been used for furniture making for centuries. It has a variable colour that’s often green to begin with, whereas Wycombe’s seat, woven from a paper made with rush, is a more even pale cream colour. It’s also much stronger.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service doesn't include fitted furniture.

For homes and customers outside of the UK and Ireland, our international team are here to help arrange shipping and delivery. Call us on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or e-mail [email protected] and together we’ll sort out the best method for you.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.

If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.

You can find the store’s details online here.

And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at [email protected]
