A closer look at Toulston

Low in profile and contemporary in its simplicity, Toulston is our choice of outdoor dining chair when we want to enhance, but not hide, a distinctive table. Though it may be petite and straight-lined, it’s been designed with curves and reclines that make it deceptively comfy too.

Materials: all-weather wicker

While we love natural materials like rattan, we’ll sometimes choose an alternative if it’ll make your design live longer and your life far easier. Here, we use a woven resin fibre (which we call ‘all-weather wicker’) because it’s happy being left outside. From its appearance to its texture, it’s remarkably close to rattan too.

Materials: canvas

The cushion is made from a weather-resistant canvas, so that it needn’t be brought inside every time there’s a quick summer shower. It isn’t weatherproof though – an important distinction – and so can’t be left out all year long or in pouring rain. The cover is also removeable so that it can easily be cleaned.

Comfort & proportions

Most of us prefer not to sit completely upright, so we designed Toulston with an angle in the backrest. While it’s not very high, it does curve round a little to sit more comfortably against your spine. And its foam cushion is neither too firm, nor too soft to be supportive.

Design detail

This is a chair that balances practicality with aesthetics: the resin fibre ends just above the feet, which are capped in plastic so they glide more easily. And, should you opt for the seat cushion, it’ll be held in place with small wooden toggles that hook into specially-designed loops in the weave.

Taking care of your furniture

We’ve put together a series of guides on how best to take care of our pieces, so you can keep them looking as good as the day you first brought them home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
