A closer look at Canterbury

Our most contemporary garden bench has a simple, slatted back, but we’ve also added in details that feel considered – and comfortable. In fact, taking comfort into account is how it got its wave-back name, because the backrest follows a much more natural seating position. And though it’s the most pared-back, it’s classic enough to meld to any style of garden.

Materials: teak

We use teak for this bench because it’s a hardwood that’s full of naturally occurring oils, making it easy to live with outside. To this we also add our own IsoGuard® oil, to temper the initial honey-brown colour and protect it further. With time, the teak will silver beautifully

Comfort and proportions

This bench’s backrest curves to the shape of your spine and reclines slightly so you’re not sat totally upright. The seat slopes back too – a position that’s more supportive to the knees. There’s also a matching, foam-filled seat cushion available, should you want to soften the timber slats.

Design detail

Canterbury’s design may be seemingly straightforward, but there are a few subtle details that make it far from ordinary, like the arc of the armrest and the curved slope in the top of the front legs. We also use traditional joinery techniques, so you’ll see discreet dowel joins rather than screws.

Taking care of your furniture

You want: easy-to-care-for pieces that you don’t need to tiptoe around. We’ve got: easy-to-read-through care guides that give you just that.

Right this way

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service does exclude fitted furniture.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
