A closer look at Lutyens

Our Lutyens bench is based on a piece created by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in the early 20th century. Like the houses and gardens he designed, this bench is typical of the English country aesthetic, with a bold but soft shape. We particularly like to use it to create a focal point within an outdoor space.

Materials: teak

We use teak for this bench because it’s a hardwood that’s full of naturally occurring oils, making it easy to live with outside. To this we also add our own IsoGuard® oil, to temper the initial honey-brown colour and protect it further. With time, the teak will silver beautifully.

Comfort & proportions

This bench is a little shallower than our others, in-keeping with the proportions that Lutyens designed. The backrest isn’t completely upright and the seat tilts back too which supports your knees. It also has a curve in its seat and is available with a matching seat cushion, should you want to soften the timber slats.

Design detail

The Lutyens bench feels classic because of its mix of curves and straight lines. Each section of the back is made from a different piece of teak, creating further detail with varying shades and grain patterns. We’ve also used traditional joinery techniques, so you’ll see discreet dowel joins rather than screws.

Right this way

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service does exclude fitted furniture.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
