A closer look at Chatto

The Chatto sofa is a quintessential, English garden piece: elegant and pretty, and made using the early 20th-century craft of Lloyd Loom. It was designed with orangeries and conservatories in mind and for taking outside when the weather’s fair.

Materials: Lloyd Loom

Lloyd Loom is made by wrapping paper around a steel wire. It’s a material that won’t bend out of shape, creak or snag. We’ve protected it from the weather with a special paint coating, and have hidden the screws and frame too, so they won’t rust.

Materials: canvas

The cushion is made from a weather-resistant canvas, but it’s not weatherproof and, just like Lloyd Loom, can’t be left out all year long or in pouring rain. You can remove the cover though, in case you’d like to pop it in the wash.

Comfort & proportions

Chatto’s frame is slim, so the seat is actually quite deep and wide, meaning that, although the back is firm, there’s space to add a few scatter cushions in addition to the foam seat cushion. The continuous line from back to arms means you can comfortably sit into its corners with or without these though.

Design detail

There’s a small section at the bottom of the legs where the aluminium frame is visible above discreet, plastic-capped feet. These are practical: protecting the Lloyd Loom from dirt, moisture and scuffs. Purely decorative though is the plaited edge that finishes the arms and back

Finish: paint

We paint Chatto in Lily, a soft, taupe-meets-grey. It’s a special formula that we created just for this piece, that’s designed to be weather-resistant. Underneath that we’ve also used a flexible primer, so it won’t crack when you sit down.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
