A closer look at Chichester

For spaces that need to do lots of jobs at once, this versatile shelf gives you three types of storage in one: a line of pegs; a shelf on top; and an oak rail. It’s this oak rail that makes it different from our other coat racks. Use it for shirts on coat hangers in a laundry room, drying towels in a bathroom, and looping scarves over in a hallway.

Materials: oak

Oak, because it’ll look more than good in your home. You can expect the odd knot here and the odd change in wood grain there – which means no two pieces will ever look quite the same – but overall, it’s a well-balanced timber.

Materials: Tulipwood

When it comes to painted timber, we use tulipwood – a strong and resilient hardwood. Its fine, almost knot-free grain makes it perfectly suited to a painted finish too, so you get the best of both worlds – strength and smoothness.

Finish: IsoGuard

The oak is protected with IsoGuard®, our timber treatment oil. Think of it as a defence barrier, but one that you’d never know was there. IsoGuard® comes in a few finishes; this one’s Natural Oak, which, as the name suggests, gives the oak a subtle, honey-coloured look.

Finish: painted

Not every piece and every colour needs the same process – a ‘one finish suits all’ approach won’t ever give you the best result possible. That’s why we vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade needs.

Just so you know

There are keyhole fixings on the back of this shelf so you can fix it to the wall – you just need to select the screws you need for your wall and then slot your shelf onto them once they’re in place.

Natural timber will always want to move. It’s going to expand and shrink as the temperature and humidity in your home changes, but there are specialist joinery techniques that can help to counteract the movement. And that’s exactly what we do, so although you might see a little movement in the timber over the seasons, it won’t change drastically.

Taking care of your furniture

You want: easy-to-care-for pieces that you don’t need to tiptoe around. We’ve got: easy-to-read-through care guides that give you just that.

Right this way

When it comes to smaller items, we don't hang around.

With smaller designs we tend to use one of three couriers; the three that we think are the best. It means that we can get your order out to you sooner. You’ll receive an email from our delivery partner to confirm your delivery date within 24 hours of us dispatching the item (or items).

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. We offer a free returns service on accessories and all the details on what you need to do will be on your delivery note. Just make sure you keep hold of the packaging.

And when it comes to designs  painted in a bespoke colour or fabric by the metre, there’s also a 30% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.
