Montague Bar Stool

A closer look at Montague

The Lloyd Loom style of our Montague bar stool offers a soft, practical seating solution for your kitchen island or bar. The painted weave and slim legs harmonise with any painted or oak furniture and the design is comfortable, practical and durable.

Materials

In use since the early 20th century, Lloyd Loom is made by wrapping paper around a steel wire. It won’t bend out of shape or creak when you sit down, and is completely smooth, so it won’t snag on clothes. In this bar stool, it’s joined by pine legs – a strong softwood with a straight grain that’s ideal for painting.

Finish

We take great care over our painted finishes and give every design exactly what it needs to make it robust. The number of base and top coats will vary according to how many that shade requires. And we use a mixture of spray-painted and hand-painted techniques so the finish is as perfect as can be.

Comfort and proportions

The shape of Montague’s seat is noticeable even before you sit down. We’ve designed it with a dip in the middle, so although it’s quite petite, it’ll fit comfortably around you and create the feeling of being held in place. It’s also the right height for our kitchen worktops, leaving plenty of room for your legs.

Design detail

Montague’s footrests are made from stainless steel so they’ll stand up to scuffs. And, wherever there’s a join in the Lloyd Loom (such as where the legs meet the seat), we’ve finished it with a neat plait. It’s a traditional detail, but one that’s balanced by the bar stool’s simple shape.

Just So you know

The colours in our paint palette shown here are a close representation of their true shades, but to see the real thing, we suggest trying our sample paint pots.

Taking care of Montague

Lloyd Loom really won’t ask a lot of you, just a regular dust down with a soft bristle brush to remove any crumbs is all that’s needed. For anything more stubborn, you can also use a soft, damp sponge – Lloyd Loom is perfectly happy getting a little wet, just avoid any harsh or abrasive cleaners.

When it comes to the painted legs and stainless-steel footrests, things are just as simple. Because you’ll find these materials in a lot of our pieces, we’ve put together a couple of slightly more in-depth guides.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
