Henley Side Table

A closer look at Henley

With its tapered legs, classic rectangular shape and refined use of oak, this side table certainly feels traditional, even a little regal. It’s from our Henley collection: a style that celebrates oak through skilful joinery and a natural finish.

Finish

Henley gets its smooth, low-sheen finish from a couple of processes. First, our IsoGuard® treatment oil, which makes oak easier to live with without masking its texture. Then we apply a water-based top coat for additional protection. The result looks like the oak has been left completely natural.

Materials

We use oak because of its beautiful grain, its durability and its sense of heritage (we’ve written more on it here). Part of its character are its knots and variations in tone, so each piece will have its own hand-writing.

Size

This is a rectangular side table, though not a long and slim one. It’s a good balance between having a wide tabletop – at least enough room for a lampstand, a cup of tea and a book – and not taking up as much floor space as a square design might. It’s also the right height for seating that’s either low or high-armed.

Design detail

Henley combines curved legs with an otherwise square-edged design – on the tabletop, the shelf beneath and the blocks at the top and bottom of each leg – for a dynamic contrast of shapes. There’s also a great deal of detail in its joinery, such as the carved lip underneath the tabletop.

Just so you know

This piece is made from natural timber, which will expand (slightly) and shrink (just a little) as it responds to the humidity and temperature in your room. We’ve used joinery techniques that’ll help to counteract this, but small changes in your piece are completely natural and to be expected. Just know that, in the very unlikely event that there’s a significant change to the structure, we’ll be here to help.

Taking care of Henley

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your side table, so that it stays looking as beautiful as the day you first brought it home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service doesn't include fitted furniture.

For homes and customers outside of the UK and Ireland, our international team are here to help arrange shipping and delivery. Call us on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or e-mail  and together we’ll sort out the best method for you.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.

If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.

You can find the store’s details online here.
