Caspar Armchair

A closer look at Caspar

The Casper armchair marks our debut into leather. We’ve chosen a genuine ‘pull-up’ leather, sourced from a tannery heralded as supplying the best hides from South America. Buttery soft yet matte in appearance, it has a timeworn look and characteristic markings that’ll differ from piece to piece, making each one totally unique.

Filling

Support comes from the serpentine springs in the base and elastic webbing in the back. The cushions have a core of our softest foam, which in the seat is surrounded with feather, down and fibre, but in the back is complemented by pure down. It’s what gives Casper its sinkable softness.

Comfort & proportions

This is a chair that’s deep enough for slouching but not so much that you can’t sit up straight. The backrest is just the right height to support the upper back.

Shape & silhouette

Caspar was inspired by traditional club chairs, but is made contemporary with a squarer shape. The oak back legs kick out slightly for a playful touch and have been vegetable-dyed a smoky brown to complement the leather.

Design detail

On the reverse of Caspar’s back cushion is a panel of ventilated material that stops air from becoming trapped behind the leather. So, when you sit down, all you hear is a soft sigh as the air escapes.

The leather

Casper is made using a pull-up aniline leather. Aniline is an organic compound that softens the texture, allows the leather to breathe and is cooler to sit on. Pull-up leather is further treated with oil or wax. With use, the oils move around to ‘pull up’ the lighter tones of the hide – hence the name.

Leather notes

Caspar is upholstered in a genuine leather, so each chair will have markings that will be entirely unique. It’ll age gracefully, developing its own character over time.

And, rest assured, all the feathers and down in our cushion fillings come from ethical, cruelty-free sources.

Taking care of Caspar

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your upholstered pieces so that they stay looking as beautiful as the day you first brought them home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
