Louis Stool, Archie Night Sky, Dark Oak Legs

A closer look at Louis

Louis is such a versatile piece, swapping effortlessly from occasional seat to side table to footstool. Underneath its lid there’s space for tucking away all the paraphernalia of family life. And on top, four buttons add a little extra detail.

Frame & filling

We build our frames using solid timber and proper jointing, with webbing to provide support where needed. Each footstool is designed with a specific filling ratio to best suit its character. In Louis’s removable top, we’ve used two densities of foam for structure and to make it a comfy place to sit.

Form & function

Lift off the top of Louis and you’ll find hidden storage space. The padding continues on the sides and slightly underneath, and the interior is lined with felt, both of which mean the lid sits snugly and securely.

Design detail

Short oak feet have been added to Louis’ frame, which elevates it slightly. It’s a look that feels more classic than if it sat flush with the floor. The arrangement of four buttons on top echoes the square shape of the feet as well as Louis’ silhouette.

Fabric notes

The textiles in our fabric library range from pure linen to rich velvet and wool, and each one has its own character. Tone and texture can vary slightly from thread to thread, and expect to see the occasional slub in our linens and pile movement in our velvets. We’ve written an article about the personality behind each of our fabrics so that you can figure out which one best suits your home.

If you’re ordering Louis in one of our checked wools, we’ll aim for the buttons sit at the point where two lines meet.

Sometimes colour between batches can vary ever-so-slightly. To be on the safe side, we’d advise buying pieces that are being used in the same room in one go.

Taking care of Louis

We’ve put together this guide on taking care of your upholstered pieces so that they stay looking as beautiful as the day you first brought them home.

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.
