Because it’s made from oak, Bibury will change over time, much like the rest of your garden. Its characterful grain and soft colour will take on a lovely weathered patina. It comes in three sizes, each one large enough for a small shrub or topiary, and sturdily built with a subtle, slatted design.
Design & engineering
The material
Oak’s a strong timber that’s suited to life outdoors because its natural oils protect it from the elements. It will silver and develop surface cracks over time, though, so we’ve given it a chalky finish that highlights the grain and hints at that silvery patina.
Design detail
On the inside, Bibury’s sealed against moisture using a clear paint (the kind used on boat hulls). It’s not completely watertight, but will help keep your plants from drying out. There are also small pads that raise the planter off the floor, to protect it from damp underfoot.
Where we see it
Though natural oak’s lovely in any garden where there’s lots of greenery, Bibury’s clean lines mean it’s also ideal for small city balconies, where it will take on a crisp, modern feel.
