Just so you know
The stem’s surprisingly tough – so you can’t accidentally snap it – but it does mean you’ll need something sharp to cut through if you’d like to trim it down. We’ve found that long-handled loppers (the type you use to prune larger shrubs and trees) or wire cutters do the job best.
The wire inside also means you can’t put your stem in water for a long time, or it’ll start to rust. If you’re arranging yours with real flowers, our favourite trick is just to bend the life-like stems up out the way of the water.
