A closer look at Lavenham

Lavenham’s a mirror that works really well in period properties where a balance between decorative details and simple form look refined and timeless in the same way that cornicing does. Combining a pared-back frame with classical fluting (or reeding) around the glass, this is a mirror with slightly Gustavian style. You can choose to hang it portrait or landscape.

The materials

Lavenham’s decorative mouldings are made of resin to achieve a really high level of detail. And the wood for the main body of the mirror comes from the Paulownia tree. It’s by far the fastest growing, deciduous hardwood tree in the world. And a single plantation can be harvested several times offering a sustainable, renewable source of timber. You can read all about Paulownia wood on our journal.

The finish

Not every piece of furniture and every colour of paint needs the same process – a ‘one finish suits all’ approach won’t ever give you the best result possible. That’s why we vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade requires. The Lavenham mirror is painted in our Driftwood colour. It’s a versatile neutral shade that will sit easily in most styles of home. And to add a little texture and depth, it’s given a relaxed, distressed finish.

Design details

The glass on our Lavenham mirror is bevelled. We use a bevelled edge to create a more traditional, classic look.

Ways to use it

Mirrors create a sense of space – hung at the end of a short hallway, they’ll add depth; hung either side of a narrow hallway, they’ll add width. They boost natural light – so position one opposite a window in a dark hallway or a dark corner of a room. A mirror can create an interesting focal point – place one behind a special object you want to highlight, and so create a reflection of it in another part of the room.

Right this way

We take our delivery service seriously. Neptune transport, Neptune people, Neptune service.

Our white glove service means you’ll have a two-man delivery team. That means no heavy lifting on your part is needed. They’ll take it to your desired spot, assemble it for you and take away the packaging for recycling. The assembly service doesn't include fitted furniture.

For homes and customers outside of the UK and Ireland, our international team are here to help arrange shipping and delivery. Call us on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or e-mail [email protected] and together we’ll sort out the best method for you.

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. If you decide on the day that it’s not for you then our delivery team can take it away for you there and then, free of charge.

But if you’d rather mull things over, you have 28 days to make up your mind. We do charge a pick-up fee of £29.95 here though, because we’ll need to send our delivery team back out to your address for collection.

If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.

You can find the store’s details online here.

And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at [email protected]
