A closer look at Greenwich

As a major port, Greenwich was the centre for glass development in the 17th century. It was at this time that Ravenscroft developed clear lead crystal glass in England, an innovation that led to designs such as these beautiful goblet glasses. The distinctive design is pleasing to hold, simple in form and very versatile. Each glass is hand blown using a premium glass to give a high level of clarity.

Just so you know

These glasses are sold in sets of six online and in store.

The making process

All our glassware is mouth-blown. It’s a traditional technique that can result in small air bubbles becoming trapped in the glass. We fire-polish every piece to reduce the amount you can see, but we can’t remove them all. And we wouldn’t want to – it’s a mark of true craftsmanship.

Design inspiration

Greenwich was inspired by Georgian glasses given to the wife of one of our founders, by her grandmother. It’s a style you’ll see in period dramas. In the 17th century, Greenwich was the centre of glass innovation where clear lead-crystal was just developing.
