There are times when you want crockery with a more traditional look, but that’s not too formal. That’s why we made the Olney collection, which includes pieces for both teatime and supper, and is both refined and down-to-earth at the same time. This bowl has a low, wide shape which makes it best for porridge and muesli or smaller portions of pasta and soup.
Stoneware, because it’s hardwearing, so you can put it in the dishwasher, and even the microwave, and not worry about it chipping easily. As fine as they are, these are pieces to live with day after day, not tiptoe around.
No two pieces in the Olney collection will be the same. That’s because we apply the dark brown thistle motif by hand using carved wooden blocks – the traditional block-printing technique. Pattern changes, varying shades, it’s what makes Olney feel more charming and tells you how it was crafted rather than manufactured.
There’s a whole lot of tradition behind Olney’s finish. From British spongeware – hand-stamped everyday pottery with its roots in the 18th century – to Chinese and Indian block printing. Just like both of these artisan processes, Olney’s got the same feeling of craft.
If you pop into one of our stores, you’ll be able to buy any of our crockery individually, rather than in a set.
You can put Olney in the dishwasher and the microwave but not the oven.
With smaller designs we tend to use one of three couriers; the three that we think are the best. It means that we can get your order out to you sooner. You’ll receive an email from our delivery partner to confirm your delivery date within 24 hours of us dispatching the item (or items).
We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. We offer a free returns service on accessories and all the details on what you need to do will be on your delivery note. Just make sure you keep hold of the packaging.
