A closer look at Emma

Emma is our English cabbage rose print that feels like a vintage textile but is far from chintzy. Instead, the larger scale of the print gives it an organic character and more contemporary sense of style. We print Sage on to a bleached linen and viscose base cloth, making it crisp and bright.

The textile

55% linen and 45% viscose. The linen lends Emma its organic feel, while the viscose helps it to drape well (ideal if you’re using it for curtains). Together, they make a fabric that’s soft, light and strong.

A note on slubs

Joining natural fibres together creates raised parts in the thread, known as slubs. They’re not flaws, just part of the fabric’s character.

How it feels

Although it’s woven from fine yarn, Emma’s one of our more textured linens, soft not stiff, but with lots of raised threads and slubs running through the weave.

The colour

We make Emma in a few colours, each with quite a different feel. This one is Sage, which we’ve printed on a bleached background so the green’s freshness stands out better.

Where we see it

Emma makes a lovely accent to lift plainer fabrics, on cushions, Roman blinds or an armchair. But don’t be afraid to use it on a larger scale – the fabric may be light but it has enough weight and structure to make great curtains, and the gentle pattern looks good on a sofa as the repeat is very subtle.

Just so you know

There can be some colour variation between different batches of our fabric – we try to make them as small as possible, but it’s something to be expected with natural fibres. If you’re using this fabric more than once in the same room, we recommend ordering as many metres as you need in one go - that way, we can make sure it’s all from the same batch.

Care guide

You want: easy-to-care-for pieces that you don’t need to tiptoe around. We’ve got: easy-to-read-through care guides that give you just that.

Right this way

When it comes to smaller items, we don't hang around.

With smaller designs we tend to use one of three couriers; the three that we think are the best. It means that we can get your order out to you sooner. You’ll receive an email from our delivery partner to confirm your delivery date within 24 hours of us dispatching the item (or items).

No-quibble returns

We believe that returns should be easy, that’s why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. We offer a free returns service on accessories and all the details on what you need to do will be on your delivery note. Just make sure you keep hold of the packaging.
