Lambswool yarn comes from a sheep’s first shearing. At this stage, the fleece is very fine and soft, which means it needs very little in the way of processing, and is part of what gives Wentworth its supple handle. Like all wool, lambswool is also biodegradable, insulating, strong and hypoallergenic.
In the making
Wentworth’s created by our family-run partner mill in Delph, a village which sits on the border of Lancashire and Yorkshire. They start with the fleeces straight from the farm, before washing, spinning, dyeing, weaving and finishing their wool textiles themselves.
Twill is one of the simplest weaving techniques. Depending on the loom, it’ll create either fine diagonal lines across the fabric – like in Wentworth – or a chevron pattern. Either way, twill textiles are strong and drape well, which makes them ideal for blankets.
A styling tip or two
As Rose Hip is such a rich and warm shade of red, it works well when it’s used as an accent. Complement it (and cool it down a little) with the green-grey of Chloe or Orla Moss, or our Olive textiles and paint colour, as they have a similarly natural feel. For a more striking contrast, pair it with warm blue teal hues (and temper all that strong colour with plenty of neutrals, such as Hugo Pale Oat).
