Hector is a modern take on the traditional tartan design which dials down the number of colours and simplifies the pattern to regular bold checks. Each check has fine dashes of light-coloured wool in its twill weave structure which gives a subtle contrast against the base shade. Its smooth, almost-felted surface has been bonded together through a milling process which makes it incredibly strong for all areas of the home, from upholstery and curtains to cushions and blinds.
Design & engineering
There are lots of reasons to love 100% wool. It’s strong, hypoallergenic and it happens to be insulating and breathable, so despite being thought of as a fabric only for cold months, it’ll keep you cool in summer too. It’s also naturally flame retardant and holds its shape well with minimal sagging, which makes it ideal for upholstery.
Clay is a warm, earthy brown with cream checks. It’s a natural foil for our unbleached linens, such as Emma, but it’s also the perfect match for our Isla velvets in Ermine and Otter.
Doing the right thing
Pure wool is an easy to care for fabric that’s not only a renewable source, but it’s also biodegradable and has a long life cycle. This is proven by its high rub count score which means it is suitable for high levels of everyday use (this is the number of times the fabric can be rubbed before the abrasion begins to break the yarn).
