What’s Lara made from?
Lara is a mix of linen and cotton: a classic pairing of natural textiles with all the soft smoothness of cotton combined with a little of linen’s characterful slubs. They’re also both breathable fabrics, helping to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter if you use them on upholstery or cushions.
A note on slubs
Slubs are the slightly raised or thicker parts of the thread that you often see on linen fabrics. They’re an entirely natural feature of this yarn, and are present in even the highest quality linen. We rather like them in fact, as they give the finished textile personality, texture and interest that show it’s made from natural, not a man made, fibres.
Lara’s handle & where to use it
Lara is crisper and smoother than pure linen alone would be because it’s blended with cotton. It’s hardwearing enough for using on upholstery (an accent chair perhaps?) but we think the scale of the print lends itself best to cushions, curtains and blinds.
Flax Blue is gentle, summery and fresh, and especially so when combined with the bleached white background in this pattern. We feel it would lend itself well to an invigorating colour scheme (with Burnt Sienna or Saffron) as much as it would a softer one (try Sage green, neutrals or pale pinks), perhaps in a living room, bedroom, bathroom or kitchen.
When it comes to smaller items, we don't hang around.

Just so you know
There can be some colour variation between different batches of our fabric – we try to make them as small as possible, but it’s something to be expected with natural fibres. If you’re using this fabric more than once in the same room, we recommend ordering as many metres as you need in one go - that way, we can make sure it’s all from the same batch.
Can be washed at 40 degree delicate wash. Note after a couple of washes colour may fade slightly
