Upholstery Specialist

Regional - Permanent, full-time

The role

Design consideration is at the very heart of everything we create at Neptune. Be it the materials we use or simply about always doing the right thing. Each of our UK team brings a different talent to the table, and together we make beautiful furniture, kitchens, upholstery and all the little things that help to give a home soul.

For us, upholstery isn't just about the beautiful choice of textile on the outside (although just so you know we house over 40 textiles in our fabric library, from pure linen to rich velvet and from patterned to plain). It's also about the bones of the furniture, so we've designed upholstery with frames that will endure. An expert upholsterer will know, when the fabric begins to tire, and eventually, when the fillings need a bit of a pick-me-up, a careful and loving repair and re-upholster will bring that favourite piece of furniture back to its original beauty.

We are seeking an Upholstery Specialist to join our team in a brand new role. Your first 9 months will be spent in Wales and China, where you will spend dedicated time with our Upholstery Consultant and superb team of specialists. This exciting and new opportunity will include regular travel and periods of time spent away from home.

You and what you need

  • In this brand-new role, you will: Train to identify acceptable standards of upholstery built quality, in relation to frame construction, interior filling cushions, cutting, sewing, upholstery, through to final inspection
  • Prepare to transfer and teach our standards into our production line in China
  • Ensure all construction methods are followed through production, using correct digital and visual data, for a consistent approach to production
  • Translate approved samples through to production, to ensure consistency each time through our production process

We're looking for someone who has successfully completed an upholstery apprenticeship or a upholstery qualification. Experience working within an upholstery production line or facility would be beneficial in addition to knowledge of quality management for upholstery. You'll have a confident and positive approach to your work, coupled with excellent communication and listening skills and have a strong desire to learn. You will also be highly organised, enjoy problem solving and have an exceptional eye for detail.
