Suffolk Painted Bar Stool
Part of our Suffolk collectionView in store
Materials
When it comes to painted timber, we use tulipwood – a strong and resilient hardwood. Its fine, almost knot-free grain makes it perfectly suited to a painted finish, so you get the best of both worlds – strength and smoothness.
Finish
Not every piece of furniture and every colour of paint needs the same process – a ‘one finish suits all’ approach won’t ever give you the best result possible. That’s why we vary the number of coats and use both hand-painted and spray-painted techniques depending on what that shade needs.
Comfort and proportions
Most of us prefer to sit slightly reclined (it’s why many people swing back on their seats) so Suffolk has a backrest that does just that. And though it’s not high, it’ll sit comfortably around your spine because of the curve in the timber. There’s a leg-hugging dip in the seat too, as well as a matching cushion available for when you want more softness.
Design detail
It’s the little things that make a difference to how polished Suffolk feels. Like the proportional overhang on the seat, the legs that taper into the backrest, and the balanced size of the balls in its back: neither too large or too small (they sit proud, but you’re not likely to feel them when you sit down).

Delivered to you, safe and sound
From our own, white-glove service for delivering larger pieces in the UK and Ireland, to our courier and international partners, rest assured that we’ve done everything we can to make sure your order gets to you on time and in one, perfect piece.
Delivery’s also entirely free if you’re in the UK and spend over £50 (or €100 in Ireland).
No-quibble returns
We believe that returns should be easy, which is why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. And, you’ll also have 28 days to do so – just in case you need time to mull things over.
When it comes to designs upholstered in a made-to-order fabric or painted in a bespoke colour, there’s also a 20% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.
If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.
And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at international@neptune.com.

Just So you know
The colours you see here are as close to the real thing as we can get them, but it’s always a good idea to try a sample first if you’re looking to get the colour spot on.
