A closer look at Fitzroy
The perfect pairing
You could team almost any lampshade with this base, but we know that it’s not always easy to do that online. So, we’ve chosen the one we think matches it best – Oliver – for you. If you’d like to order the lampshade on its own, you can do that here. Or, if you would like to just order the base, select the option without the shade above.
Classical architecture inspired the urn shape in the middle of this lamp. It’s a detail that means Fitzroy works especially well in grand, tall-ceilinged Georgian homes. You could absolutely use it in another space too, it’ll just be more of a juxtaposition.
Because it’s a natural material, oak will make your space feel warm and welcoming. It also has a distinctive grain (good for contrasting with smooth, painted surfaces) which we’ve made more obvious by brushing it to remove the softer fibres and give it more texture.
Fitzroy’s subtle grey-toned finish comes from the protective Seasoned Oak IsoGuard® oil. It looks completely natural, but gives this lamp a slightly weathered feel compared to honey-coloured, brand-new oak. It stops it feeling too formal. The flex is a brown silk, to tie in not stand out.
