Material and finish
Browning’s made from tough, powder-coated steel. Powder coating is a process that gives the metal a satin-textured, even and durable finish. There are also glass panels in between that are toughened so they’re as safe as possible.
Design detail
This restrained design has a pitched roof that stops it from feeling too boxy or modern. It’s practical too, with slits in the top that let heat out. The handle means Browning’s easier to carry in and out, though we still recommend you don’t touch it with bare hands until it’s completely cool, or lift it when the candle’s lit.
Where to use it
There are four sizes of Browning lantern, and in a pair or trio of different sizes, they look pleasingly asymmetric. If you really want to maximise the effect of the candlelight though, use a few to line a path or welcome guests through your front door, dotted down your dining table or as an alternative to a fire in spring and summer.
Pairing it with a candle
Almost any pillar candle will fit in these lanterns (with the exception of the extra small, which we suggest using with one of our small or large Forster tealights), but for a pairing that’s nicely in proportion, we’d recommend the 7x15cm Blyton candle for the small lantern and the 10x15cm for the medium and tall.

Need to knows
Browning’s absolutely fine with the occasional unexpected rain shower and spending time out in your garden during the warmer months, but it’s not rust-proof. So, we recommend bringing it inside during the winter or if the weather’s set to be bad, and drying it off if it gets wet.
The joy of sitting in
Ways to rekindle the joy of an evening in, from the practical (choosing the perfect seat), to the fun (setting up a home cinema) to the emotive (why ‘hygge’ is still relevant).
