A closer look at Hemerdon
In the making
The process of creating a statue like Hemerdon starts with the sculptor modelling it out of wax. From this, a mould is made, which molten brass is poured into and left to set before it’s taken out and finished.
The material & finish
Even though Hemerdon’s made from brass, we’ve given it a subtler black-bronze finish. Mostly matte black, with a little of the brighter gleam of bronze showing through, it’s a more contemporary look.
For stability, Hemerdon sits on top of a simple, black marble pedestal. As well as being weighty, it has a similar strong and bold feel to the sculpture itself and, with its delicate veins of grey, adds to the textural interest in the piece when you look at it closely.
Where we see it
Striking enough to sit on its own on a mantel, side table or to add decoration to your study. You could also try combining Hemerdon with our Sketch series of figurative prints for an artistic feel.
