Herdwick fleeces tend to shed more wool than other sheepskin, so from time to time, you might want to comb out stray fibres with a sheepskin brush (we get ours from The Oxford Brush Company). This will also keep the pile fluffy.
A closer look at Herdwick
Herdwick sheep are a rare and ancient breed native to the Lake District, known for the thick, strong wool that protects them from mountain blizzards. Their fleeces are a little coarser than other sheepskins, but they more than make up for this with their warmth and distinctive colour.
Our Herdwick rug is made in Devon at Britain’s oldest tannery, which uses traditional techniques to preserve the fleece’s character. Its colours, markings and texture are all completely natural, so no two will ever be exactly the same.
