Chichester Low Side Table
Part of our Chichester collectionView in store
Materials
Tulipwood is a strong and durable hardwood that has a fine, almost knot-free grain, creating a smooth surface for painting. Oak, on the other hand, is full of character, knots and colour variations – qualities that are all part of its charm (read more on oak here).
The finish: paint
We take great care over our painted finishes and give every design exactly what it needs to make it robust. The number of base and top coats will vary according to how many that shade requires. And we use a mixture of spray-painted and hand-painted techniques so the finish is as perfect as can be.
The finish: IsoGuard®
Chichester’s tabletop is protected with IsoGuard®, which makes the oak easier to live with but doesn’t mask its texture. It’s linseed-based, an oil which does initially darken the timber, but the clever pigments in our Natural finish replenish the original, soft-toned colour.
Size
Low side tables like this one are useful if you’ve a large lampstand – Chichester has a roomy tabletop and, because of its height, will bring lighting down to a cosy level. It’s also ideal for pairing with low-armed seating or even a bed.
Design detail
Our Chichester side tables have a lower shelf as part of their design – a useful addition for keeping the top surface clear of books and magazines. It’s simply decorated with V-grooves, so it’s attractive when left bare too.

Delivered to you, safe and sound
From our own, white-glove service for delivering larger pieces in the UK and Ireland, to our courier and international partners, rest assured that we’ve done everything we can to make sure your order gets to you on time and in one, perfect piece.
Delivery’s also entirely free if you’re in the UK and spend over £50 (or €100 in Ireland).
No-quibble returns
We believe that returns should be easy, which is why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. And, you’ll also have 28 days to do so – just in case you need time to mull things over.
When it comes to designs upholstered in a made-to-order fabric or painted in a bespoke colour, there’s also a 20% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.
If you’ve bought something from us outside the UK or Ireland, just get in touch with the store you bought it from – or with our international team if you bought it through them – and they’ll let you know how you can return or exchange it.
And talk to our international team on +44 (0)1793 427 427 or at international@neptune.com.

Taking care of Chichester
Looking after Neptune designs is easy – they won’t ask you for a lot. But, whether you’d like advice on everyday cleaning or seasonal and yearly care, you’ll find all our tips, suggestions and recommendations in our care guides.
Just so you know
The colours in our paint palette shown here are a close representation of their true shades, but to see the real thing, we suggest trying our sample paint pots.
This piece is made from natural timber, which will expand (slightly) and shrink (just a little) as it responds to the humidity and temperature in your room. We’ve used joinery techniques that’ll help to counteract this, but small changes in your piece are completely natural and to be expected. Just know that, in the very unlikely event that there’s a significant change to the structure, we’ll be here to help.
The joy of sitting in
Ways to rekindle the joy of an evening in, from the practical (choosing the perfect seat), to the fun (setting up a home cinema) to the emotive (why ‘hygge’ is still relevant).
