The material

Howell’s made from poplar: a type of hardwood that has a very fine, even grain, making it ideal for painting. It’s also easy to carve – just the thing for creating the shape of these finials.

The finish

Charcoal is one of the darkest grey shades in our collection. We chose to paint Howell in an eggshell finish so that it’ll pick up on any light in the room to highlight its curves, and to create a contrast in texture against matte-painted walls. The paint is then sanded back slightly to reveal some of the timber beneath – another detail that emphasises the shape.

There are two sizes of Howell finials, which you can sit together or space out around your room to help link different areas together. Combine them with other decorative objects like our Ashford marble ball and Endellion statue for a collected feel.
