Is made of nothing but proper timber – be it solid or plywood. You won’t find any MDF or chipboard here. And it’s all jointed together properly, with a belt-and-braces approach thanks to glue and screws too. It’s truly solid.
In the seat cushion, we’ve wrapped a core of soft foam with feather and fibre, which is kept in channels so it doesn’t move around too much – a little like a duvet. In the back, the cushion is filled with feather and down, which you can sink into but is easy to plump back up again.
Comfort and proportions
As soft and slouchy as Long Island is, it’s also shallow enough that you can sit comfortably upright – though still deep enough you can curl your feet up on the seat. And because the back and arms are quite high, and you sink into the seat, it has a cosy feel too.
Shape and silhouette
Long Island’s shape continues the feeling of relaxation, with a fluid arc to its side profile and gentle scrolling on its arms. It also has a rolled, pillow-like back cushion rather than a boxed one for an inviting look that gently cushions your shoulders.
The covers are precision-made to the frame, but with a degree of looseness so that you can take them on and off. Together with the kick pleats – stitched in place at each corner – it means that no matter how much you use Long Island, the covers will never fall out of place.

Delivery’s also entirely free if you’re in the UK and spend over £50 (or €100 in Ireland).
We believe that returns should be easy, which is why we approach them with a ‘no quibble’ mindset. And, you’ll also have 28 days to do so – just in case you need time to mull things over.
When it comes to designs upholstered in a made-to-order fabric or painted in a bespoke colour, there’s also a 20% returns/cancellation fee. We’d love to not have to charge a penny for this, but as they’re made just for you, we can’t always guarantee that we’ll be able to sell them again.

The textiles in our fabric library range from pure linen to rich velvet and wool, and each one has its own character. Tone and texture can vary slightly from thread to thread, and expect to see the occasional slub in our linens and pile movement in our velvets. We’ve written an article about the personality behind each of our fabrics so that you can figure out which one best suits your home.
And, rest assured, all the feathers and down in our cushion fillings come from ethical, cruelty-free sources.
Sometimes colour between batches can vary ever-so-slightly. To be on the safe side, we’d advise buying pieces that are being used in the same room in one go.
