Edinburgh Coat Rack
Part of our Edinburgh collectionView in store
Materials
Oak, because it’s the hardwood to end all hardwoods – for us at least. Oak means it’ll look more than good in your home. You can expect the odd knot here and the odd change in wood grain there – which means no two pieces will ever look quite the same – but overall, it’s a well-balanced timber. And steel for the hooks, because it’s incredibly strong.
The finish: oak
Brushing, buffing, staining – they’re the steps that make Edinburgh’s oak look a bit rustic, without having to use already aged timber. This version of rustic is great for people who like the idea of vintage, but prefer things that are ‘brand new’. Then, we apply our treatment oil – IsoGuard® – to make it easier to live with. Think of it as a bit of a defence barrier, but one that you can’t see, feel or would ever know was there.
The finish: steel
Antique Bronze is a dark, warm-toned metallic finish. The part that makes it ‘antique’ is that there’s a little of the brighter, brassier colour beneath showing through – like bronze that’s already worn. Just like the oak, it gives you that vintage look, without actually being old.

Just so you know
There are keyhole fixings on the back of this coat rack so you can fix it to the wall – you just need to select the screws you need for your wall and then slot your coat rack onto them once they’re in place. If you’d like to pair this coat rack with one of the Edinburgh boot room benches to make a set, this size will sit happily above the 1500 bench. Natural timber will always want to move. It’s going to expand and shrink as the temperature and humidity in your home changes, but there are specialist joinery techniques that can help to counteract the movement. And that’s exactly what we do, so although you might see a little movement in the timber over the seasons, it won’t change drastically.
