Although Shale is the darkest of the colours in our Pebble palette, it’s not as dramatic as the likes of Charcoal, Smoke or Ink, and is warmer too. We especially love it for living rooms where it’s smart but not too dark during the day and then takes on an enveloping cosiness when lit by lamps in the evening. Like the slightly lighter Cobble, it also lends itself well to kitchens where it’ll feel crisp but not cold. Try combining the two, perhaps with Cobble on the majority of cabinetry and then Shale on an island.

Where we see it

Paired with wood and earthier greys like Honed Slate, Shale takes on a warmer tone. We also like it as a cooler shade in a hallway, teamed with white like our Snow paint and monochrome artworks.
