The role
We're a British-born and raised interiors and lifestyle brand who design and make furniture, lighting and accessories for your whole home. We believe our designs can make your life that little bit easier, happier and better and we always lead with heart.
Finance at Neptune isn't just about number crunching. Working behind the scenes you'll find a warm and engaging team of commercially aware experts, who provide a truly dynamic service across all our operational businesses to help us achieve our financial goals.
Our Finance team are now seeking an Accounts Assistant to join them, supporting the day-to-day operation of the department and playing an important role in the smooth running of our financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in finance within a growing retail business, gaining exposure across multiple areas of the finance function while building valuable accounting experience.
Within this role, you will be responsible for:
- Reconciling daily sales and cash takings from our retail stores and online channels.
- Investigating and resolving variances between sales systems and financial records.
- Supporting stock and inventory reconciliations where required.
- Assisting with month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Preparing schedules and supporting information for management reporting.
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations and supporting cash management activities.
- Reconciling company credit card and employee expense transactions.
- Assisting with processing supplier invoices and ensuring they are accurately recorded within the finance system.
- Supporting customer invoicing, allocating incoming payments and assisting with credit control activities where required.
- Providing information and support for internal and external audit requests and year-end finance activities.
You'll be a naturally confident communicator with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to your work. You'll enjoy working with numbers, be keen to learn and have the ability to build strong working relationships across the business. You'll also bring strong organisational skills, good Excel knowledge and the ability to prioritise your workload whilst meeting deadlines. Previous experience within a finance, accounts or administrative role would be advantageous, as would experience within a retail environment, although neither are essential. An AAT qualification, studying towards AAT, or an interest in pursuing a professional accounting qualification would also be desirable.
In return, we offer a great range of benefits and the opportunity to be part of an exceptional and dedicated team where you'll be supported to develop your skills and build a rewarding long-term career in finance.

Our Story
Founded in 1996 by friends John Sims-Hilditch and Giles Redman, Neptune design and make pieces for the whole home. Recognised for our exacting standards, design-led aesthetic and expert craftsmanship, we're perhaps most known for kitchens - with heirloom-worthy dressers not far behind. Neptune's trademark 'look' is British: refined, simple, sturdy, and with an almost obsessive attention to detail. We're also respected for our commitment to craft and quality. Put simply, we make things we're proud of, and that are designed to last a lifetime.
