Can I use this on my furniture?
You can use this care kit to look after almost any piece of furniture protected with our IsoGuard® oil. The finish just depends on which collection your furniture is from: ‘Moss’ is for Pembrey, Harmondsworth, Stanway, Denham and Canterbury pieces; ‘Weathered Moss’ is for Hove and the legs on Bryher designs; and ‘Shale’ is for Runswick. If you’re not sure though, just get in touch with your nearest store or our customer experience team.
What’s included & what do I need?
Included in your kit is our exterior wood cleaner, IsoGuard® top coat oil, a scrubbing pad and a microfibre cloth. The only thing you’ll need to add is a nylon brush (a stiff bristled brush, like the kind that comes with a dustpan, is perfect).
How do I use the kit?
Application is really simple and we’ll include full instructions with you kit, but essentially it’s a case of wetting the timber, applying the cleaner from the spray bottle, rubbing it in with your nylon brush and then rinsing thoroughly. You then apply the top coat oil using your scrubbing pad, leave it to sit for ten minutes before smoothing over it again, leave it another five minutes then wipe off the excess with the microfibre cloth. The oil will be touch dry after 24 hours but we recommend leaving it somewhere safe and sheltered for seven days.
When should I use the kit?
It all depends on where your furniture lives and how you use it, but generally speaking we’ve found that once a year in the spring or autumn is ideal. If you want to use your kit more or less though, that’s absolutely fine.
What is IsoGuard®?
IsoGuard® is our timber treatment oil which helps protect the wood from things like oxidisation, drying and staining without masking its natural texture at all. It does this by bonding with the wood at a molecular, rather than a surface, level. When it comes to stains, we still recommend that you mop up any spills as soon as possible, because it’ll only protect for a time and every liquid absorbs differently, but it will give you some breathing room. IsoGuard® is based on natural linseed oil and is free from harmful VOCs.

Care & need to knows
Need to knows
Although IsoGuard® isn’t harmful, it is highly flammable. You’ll need to keep the tin out of sunlight, and you should also thoroughly soak your cloths, pads and brushes in water after use, keeping these out of sunlight as well.
