Stratford-upon-Avon still follows the grid set out in 1196, and much of what stands on it was rebuilt after the fires of the 1590s tore through Henley Street, High Street and Chapel Street. Those replacement frames were given brick fronts from the 1750s, so a Georgian face often has a Tudor frame behind it. Old Town keeps the earlier townhouses.
