Handcrafted upholstered dining chairs in natural fabrics

Choosing the right upholstered dining chair for your table

Our upholstered dining chairs bring together comfort, expert tailoring and timeless design. Each chair is carefully proportioned with cushioned seats and supportive backs, so you can sit comfortably through everyday meals. Upholstered in a wide choice of natural fabrics, our fabric dining chairs allow you to introduce colour, texture and softness into your dining space, while subtle detailing such as piping and scroll arms adds character and refinement.

Our upholstered dining chairs are designed to sit beautifully alongside our oak dining tables, whether it’s the extending versatility of Harrogate, the graceful curves of Sheldrake, or the light, contemporary profile of Wycombe.

Fabric dining chairs built on solid timber frames

Built with solid timber frames and finished with hand-applied upholstery, they are crafted to last for years of use. If you’d rather highlight the natural grain of timber, our solid oak dining chairs provide a strong, enduring alternative. And for more relaxed or flexible seating, a dining bench can be introduced to balance the look and feel of the room.

Upholstered dining chairs FAQ's

Upholstered dining chairs bring exceptional comfort to mealtimes, with cushioned seats and supportive backs that encourage lingering conversation. Fabric dining chairs introduce softness, colour and texture, creating a more inviting atmosphere than wooden alternatives alone. They work beautifully paired with oak tables or mixed with wooden chairs and benches for visual interest.

Our upholstered chairs feature solid timber frames and hand-applied upholstery in natural fabrics, ensuring lasting quality. The combination of comfort and thoughtful craftsmanship makes them ideal for families who value both practicality and style.

Choose upholstered dining chairs based on your interior style and how you use your space. Carver chairs with arms, such as our Shoreditch chair, suit table heads and offer extra comfort for relaxed dining. Armless chairs fit more easily around tables, maximising seating.

For everyday comfort, consider rounded or contoured backrests, such as our Borough chair, which provides gentle support through longer mealtimes. High-back styles suit traditional interiors, whilst lower-back styles work well in casual or contemporary spaces. Pair fabric dining chairs with wooden alternatives or a bench for balance.

Choose upholstery fabric based on your lifestyle and how often you use your dining space. Durable natural fabrics like linen suit busy families, resisting everyday wear and remaining comfortable, whilst velvet brings elegance to formal spaces. Consider colour and texture – lighter tones suit casual spaces, whilst richer fabrics add depth to formal rooms.

Care for upholstered dining chairs depends on the fabric type, as each material requires slightly different treatment. Vacuum fabric dining chairs regularly using an upholstery attachment to remove dust. Address spills immediately by gently blotting – never rubbing – with a clean absorbent cloth to prevent stains from setting. Natural fabrics like linen benefit from professional cleaning periodically.

Other materials, such as leather, have specific care requirements detailed in our textile care guide. Our upholstered chairs are designed for daily use, and proper care ensures they remain beautiful for years.
